With the generous support of PPG, Code/Art significantly expanded its reach in Pittsburgh and Detroit in 2024 by partnering with local K-12 educators and community organizations. Our collaboration with local education networks has created new, sustainable pathways for delivering creative coding opportunities to more students and educators. New community partners include AIU (Allegheny Intermediate Unit), GEMS, CodeJoy, and the Pittsburgh and Michigan chapters of the CSTA (Computer Science Teachers Association).
Through this growing network of partnerships, Code/Art delivered 11 transformative educational programs to educators and students in Pittsburgh and Detroit: seven professional development workshops for teachers on topics such as AI, Game Design, and Creative Coding, and four interactive student-teacher collaborative workshops. These programs not only provided teachers with access to our cutting-edge coding curriculum but also inspired female students to explore their interests in computer science through the lens of art and creativity.
