Celebrating Miami Tech Month All Across the City

Apr 30, 2024 | All News

Miami Tech Month is an exhilarating time for our city’s vibrant tech community, and this year, we were all over town, spreading awareness of Code/Art’s missions and year-round programs. Throughout the month, we connected with fellow organizations, students, and educators at various events and through community outreach initiatives.

Today at Apple Talk

Our festivities kicked off early at the Apple Aventura Store, where we hosted a talk and workshop for Apple Store attendees. Audience members had the opportunity to hear from Code/Art-trained teacher Lisa Hauser, and her students shared their experiences with Apple Store attendees. The students talked about the impact of the program and their favorite projects. Lastly, we ended the day with an interactive Apple Swift Playground workshop.

Maker Faire Miami & Emerge Americas

The excitement continued at Maker Faire Miami & Emerge Americas! We had a jam-packed week in mid-April filled with creativity, innovation, and student inspiration during Maker Faire Miami & Emerge Americas. We started the week at Maker Faire Miami, where we hosted our signature hands-on coding activity – binary bracelets! We spent the entire weekend with students and parents, helping them create their own coded bracelets and discussing how computers work.

Mid-week, we headed to the Miami Beach Convention Center for Emerge Americas’ Big 10th-year anniversary event! There, we connected with other organizations, young professionals, and local startups to discuss the future of computer science. Innovation was everywhere! It was an amazing opportunity to talk about the importance of equity in tech and share more about our mission and program with attendees.

NSU Library – Take Your Child to Work Day

Last but not least, we wrapped up the month with a day of fun at the NSU Library, where we led an Abstract Art lesson for a group of elementary students and ended the day making binary bracelets with students and their parents. We want to extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who stopped by our booths, attended our talks, and made binary bracelets with us. Until next year!
