“My self-portrait for the Code/Art’s CodeYourSelf™ competition was my first time coding. Code/Art has been part of my computer science journey ever since. Participating in the club made me realize that computer science was fun and doable as long as one is dedicated and focused on their learning. Code/Art events have encouraged me to learn and be even more curious about computer science & technology in general. They also gave me countless opportunities to meet people who inspire me and whom I can look up to. I will be forever grateful to have been part of such an amazing community!”

Also, while volunteering as a Code/Art Instructor for 4 years, I grew as a leader and learned to solve problems creatively. Because I chose to attend UM, I plan to continue teaching for Code/Art and contributing to the growth of girls in STEM in the community where I live.”

“Being involved with Code/Art has impacted my future academic endeavors because teaching fun programming projects and making lessons has furthered my interest in technology and design.
