On April 20th, at their second quarterly meeting of 2021, members of the newly launched Miami Beach Chapter of 100+ Women Who Care voted to make Code/Art the beneficiary of their Q2 crowd-funding efforts, with additional matching funds from the Richard M Schulze Foundation. Code/Art is a local nonprofit focused on increasing the number of girls studying computer science by delighting and inspiring them with the creative possibilities of computer programming. Code/Art provides South Florida girls in grades 3-12 with accessible and welcoming coding programs that focus on art, creativity, and social good. At its inaugural meeting in January, the first award recipient was The Sabrina Cohen Foundation, a local nonprofit dedicated to developing adaptive fitness and recreational programs that provide a better quality of life for individuals living with paralysis and various disabilities.
About 100+ Women Who Care Miami Beach
We are an alliance of philanthropic women supporting local nonprofits in Miami -Dade County. Functioning as a crowd-sourced micro-funding organization, our goal is to reach 100 or more philanthropic women as members, each of whom commit $100 each quarter. We meet quarterly and hear pitch presentations from three local charities, and then members vote on one recipient who is awarded a grant for the total proceeds raised that quarter. When we reach 100 members x $100 each = $10,000! 100% of these funds will be used to expand crucial programs and services to those in need in our community. 100+ Who Care is a nationwide organization and the new Miami Beach Chapter was founded by local women including Terri Echarte, Dara Schoenwald, Kim Rodstein, Susan Askew, Mirielle Enlow and Ally Glaser to help bring awareness to local grassroots charities and provide a platform where philanthropic women can gather, network and give.
