“Code/Art was a fun way for me to explore and experiment with combining technology and art. As someone who’s always been interested in visual arts and creative expression, it was exciting to try coding as an art medium. I am thankful for my Coding Club teacher at the Academy of the Holy Cross, who introduced coding and encouraged me to participate in Code/Art during my freshman year.“

“Code/Art has impacted my life by creating a fun yet competitive project to work on yearly, where I can display my passion for art through coding. I want to continue creating art in the future, and Code/Art has helped me understand that art is everywhere. The CodeYourSelf™ competition has inspired me to continue using different mediums to create art, no matter how obscure the medium may be.”

“My journey with coding began with reluctance and misconceptions — I believed it was a solitary, tedious task. But after joining Code/Art’s Club in sixth grade, my perspective shifted as I discovered coding as a tool for creativity, innovation, and self-expression. Over the years, I’ve grown from a hesitant student to a lead instructor, now helping others experience that same transformation. Watching students go from skepticism to excitement reminds me that technology isn’t just technical — it’s a powerful medium for creative exploration and impact.“

“Code/Art was incredible for me because it taught me just what girls are capable of if they’re surrounded by a community which truly believes in them and caters to them! Being surrounded by passionate, ambitious women who care so much about their impact in the world around them was incredible, whether that was doing data management as a sophomore or teaching the virtual club during my junior year! I wouldn’t feel as confident in my skills and ability to communicate without attending meetings with the Code/Art team or teaching wonderful kids for a year.“
