At Code/Art, we’re always looking for ways to inspire girls to explore STEM in real-world settings, and our recent experience with Formula E’s Girls on Track event did just that. Through this opportunity, Code/Art students stepped into the world of electric racing, where innovation, engineering, and sustainability come together. Experiences like this help bridge the gap between what students learn in school and the careers they can pursue in the future.
What is Girls on Track?
The Girls on Track program by FIA Formula E is more than just an event. It’s a global initiative focused on opening doors for young women in motorsports and STEM fields. Many industries, including engineering and racing, are still male-dominated, which can make it harder for girls to picture themselves in those careers. Programs like this are helping change that by creating inclusive opportunities for students to explore STEM in exciting and engaging ways.
The initiative introduces students to careers in technology and motorsports through hands-on experiences and mentorship opportunities. By meeting professionals already working in these industries, students gain valuable insight into what a future in STEM can look like.

Behind-the-Scenes Access to Formula E
Instead of watching from the stands, students explored racing simulators, visited the pit lane, and got a behind-the-scenes look at how engineering teams prepare for competition. They also learned how Formula E is leading innovation in electric vehicle technology and sustainable motorsports.
Seeing women in leadership roles within racing helped break stereotypes and build confidence among students. Hands-on experiences like these make STEM feel exciting, accessible, and connected to real-world careers.

Why Experiences Like This Matter for Girls in STEM
Experiences like Formula E’s Girls on Track are more than just field trips. By combining hands-on learning and exposure to innovative industries, programs like this empower more girls to pursue STEM with confidence.
At Code/Art, we’re committed to continuing this mission by connecting students with opportunities that expand what they believe is possible. Thank you, Formula E for this opportunity!
